The approach

Clear scope. Useful decisions. Accountable follow-through.

  1. 01

Agree the property, visit window, guest scenarios, SOP and QPR criteria, scoring method, report recipients, deadline, professional fee and expense budget in writing.

  2. 02

Complete the authorised mystery guest visit within the agreed scope. The visit can be unannounced to the on-property team while remaining commissioned by the client.

  3. 03

Assess observable standards, document findings and distinguish verified gaps from criteria that could not be assessed during the visit.

  4. 04

Deliver the confidential report and debrief, agree corrective priorities and scope any follow-up inspection separately.

Two ways to commission the work

Direct engagement or independent subcontract assignment.

For hotel owners & management companies

Direct hotel inspection

Commission an independent guest-experience and standards assessment for a single property or an agreed programme of visits. The scope and report are tailored to your operating questions.

Professional fee quoted by scope. Approved travel, accommodation, meals and agreed guest-experience purchases are itemised and invoiced to the commissioning client.

For consulting, quality-assurance & inspection firms

Independent auditor assignment

Engage Ahmet as an independent subcontractor to conduct hotel fieldwork using your authorised checklist, scoring framework and reporting format. Confidential or white-label delivery can be agreed in writing.

Fee, approved expenses, reporting rights, confidentiality and any conflicts of interest are agreed with the commissioning firm before the assignment.

Before commissioning an inspection

Hotel mystery guest inspections, explained.

What is a hotel mystery guest inspection?

A mystery guest inspection is a commissioned assessment carried out through the experience of an ordinary hotel guest. Also called hotel mystery shopping, it compares observable service delivery with agreed standards and produces a documented report for the authorised client.

Can you assess our SOPs, brand standards and QPR requirements?

Yes. The client supplies the current SOPs, authorised brand standards and any QPR checklist or scoring rules. QPR terminology and requirements vary by organisation, so the applicable criteria are confirmed before the visit. Items that cannot be observed are recorded as unassessed. Any back-of-house review is separately scoped and authorised.

Can a consulting or inspection company hire you as an independent auditor?

Yes. Assignments can be commissioned directly by a hotel owner or management company, or subcontracted by a consulting, quality-assurance or inspection firm. There is one agreed commissioning client per assignment, with reporting rights and authorised recipients confirmed in writing.

How are inspection fees and expenses handled?

The professional fee is quoted according to the property, visit length, scope, reporting requirements and travel. An expense budget is approved before booking. The agreed fee and approved, itemised expenses are invoiced to the commissioning party, with applicable taxes and payment terms stated in the proposal.

Can the hotel visit be unannounced?

Yes. The commissioning client can authorise a visit that is unannounced to the on-property team. The visit window, guest scenarios, evidence collection and any later disclosure or management debrief are agreed beforehand.

Where is the service available?

Ahmet is based in Oakville, Ontario. Inspections are available in the Greater Toronto Area, elsewhere in Ontario and across Canada by arrangement, subject to availability and an agreed travel budget.

How does this differ from a hotel performance audit?

A mystery guest inspection focuses on the guest journey and observable service standards during a defined visit. A hotel performance audit examines a broader set of operating, revenue, productivity and leadership information. The two services can be commissioned separately or combined under an agreed scope.

What should I include in my enquiry?

Share the property location, commissioning organisation, number of properties or visits, preferred timing, relevant SOP or QPR framework, desired report format and whether you need a direct or subcontract engagement. A proposal then confirms the scope, deliverables, timetable, fee and expenses.

Why Ahmet

As a hotel general manager, I experienced independent, unannounced quality and SOP reviews from the operator’s side. I bring that perspective—and more than 30 years in hospitality—to observations that are fair, specific and useful to the people responsible for improving the guest experience.
